Here's what some discerning people have had to say about us.....

Too many folk musicians take themselves too bloody seriously. They frown, try to look detached, and frown again.  Not Murphy's Pigs. This rough-knit group of Banana-benders is here to have fun with the music and the audience. They sing boisterously one minute and tenderly the next. They sing old chestnuts bringing smiles of recognition to the faces in the crowd: "My Gawd! They're singing something I remember from the Clancy Brothers repertoire!"
There's loads of chorus songs too, and once again the audience responds enthusiastically - even if it is that silly song about The Whale, with its di di di di chorus. There's no sacred ground here and the band is just as comfortable swinging into an Irish, Scottish or American song as it is with a bush song from Australia's yester-years. This is meant to be fun … and Murphy's Pigs can carry that fun with a nod and a wink.

Murphy's Pigs are the greatest bunch of ratbag musicians I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. The heart they put into their brand of Celtic and Aussie bush music is terrific and they are a real credit to the glorious state of New South Wales............. It's a pity they hail from Brisbane!!!!
Marcus Holden, Director of Fiddlers Feast: Composer/producer.

What is the French word for ‘ratbags’?

Never heard of ‘em.  Who the f&@# are Murphy’s Pigs?

I love a live recording. I enjoy being part of an experience and being taken for a journey with a performer and with their audience. Live at the Irish Club from Brisbane band, Murphy's Pigs, gives me that sense of "being there" and the immediacy that I love.  If you harbour a secret love of Irish pub bands you will be delighted with this CD. This is an utterly charming recording. It is an unashamed romp, without pretensions or affectation .... the band is obviously having such a grand time and the audience is so involved that the listener is swept away. This is a pub band having a great night.
Lonnie Martin, Queensland Folk Rag

My children love the CD.  They're always dancing to it.  In fact the CD could single handedly wipeout childhood obesity.
